Misnomer
by: Mags

Yes it is a misnomer, an accepted misnomer! The development of steel pan was very informal and the instruments have some very random, strange names.

The tenor pan is also called the soprano pan and sometimes the lead pan. Three names for the one instrument! Quite confusing! Standardization please!

Misnomer?
by: Anonymous

If it's the highest voice in an orchestra, why do you call it Tenor?

SATB = Soprano Alto Tenor Bass
