Competition has always been a part of the steelband movement. At first, they were very informal, with neighboring steelbands vying for musical supremacy.
Formal steelband competitions began in the late 1940’s and now are an important part of the steelband calendar.
The following competitions and festivals are based in Trinidad but are open to persons from around the world.
